Academic Integrity Intervention Program
The Academic Integrity Intervention Program is a two part program that is designed to provide students with the proper education and resources to promote integrity in writing, ethics, research and real world implications. In addition to an educational intervention sanction, the AIIP is required to be successfully completed before a student can have the “X” removed from an “XF” sanction.
The AIIP is offered in two parts;
The first is a library seminar offered through Mississippi State University’s Mitchel Memorial Library. Students must register for the Academic Honesty workshops by visiting http://events.library.msstate.edu/evanced/lib/eventcalendar.asp You must register for a workshop at least two (2) business days in advance. To register, click on the workshop title, and then use your MSU netid and net password to enroll. You must purchase a copy of the book Doing Honest Work in College 2nd edition by Charles Lipson and read pages 3-62 prior to attending the workshop. Barnes and Noble Campus Bookstore usually has this book in stock, if not, they can order it for you. Bring the book with you to the session, or you will not be permitted to attend.
The workshop dates for the spring 2014 semester are scheduled for
Friday, January 24, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Thursday, February 13, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Monday, March 24, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, April 29, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
All sessions will be held in Presentation Room 1405 (previously known as the IMC Presentation Room) on the first floor of Mitchell Memorial Library.
In addition to the library seminar, students must also enroll in the Online Ethics Course. A student may enroll in the Online Ethics Course at any time. This is a self-paced course, and it is up to the student to finish the course in a timely manner. If a completion date is specified in a student’s sanction letter, it is their responsibility to complete both steps prior to that completion date.
To enroll, send an email (requesting enrollment) from your MSU email account to email@example.com and to firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost of this course is $150. The $150 will be charged to the student’s account.
A student must successfully complete both steps 1 and 2 to fulfill a student honor code sanction requirement and/or remove an “X” that has been placed on their academic transcript. After completion the student must notify the Student Honor Code Council Office by sending an email to Mrs. Janice Muzzi at email@example.com. Successful completion enables the student to request that the Student Honor Code Office remove the “X” from the “XF” notation on the transcript and grant permission to retake the course.
